FOUNDATION
El Celler de Can Roca was founded in 1986 by the brothers Joan and Josep Roca. Jordi Roca later joined them. From 2007 the restaurant is located in the old Can Sunyer tower. Its cuisine is avant-garde and integrates innovative culinary techniques.

Three Michelin Stars (1995, 2002 and 2009). Three Repsol Suns in the Repsol Guide. Best Restaurant in the World in 2013 and 2015 by 'Restaurant' magazine. Best Chef of the World in 2017 and 2018 in The Best Chef Awards list.

The origins of the Roca brothers' vocation for cooking are familiar. How exactly did they come about? 

We are the third generation of a family dedicated to the hotel and restaurant trade. The three of us, Josep, Jordi and myself, started the adventure which is El Celler de Can Roca 32 years ago now, and have consolidated our dream: a restaurant where we can work at the top level and be happy making people happy.

When does the relationship between El Celler de Can Roca and mychef by Distform start? 

Distform is a restless business and a business which in its restlessness and non-conformity is ready to take on challenges. We had already been working with them for years, striving to improve precision and the time-temperature relationship. There has clearly been incredible development in these areas with the result that the Distform ovens are now very precise, and so they are the ovens we use habitually at El Celler de Can Roca.

Currently you have the new range of mychef ovens. What improvements do you find in comparison with the previous model? 

mychef is that versatile formula which gives you both precision in temperature and time and high temperature features with proven effectiveness. Operation is much more intuitive, easier and faster with clear improvements in effectiveness. 

What is the main future challenge that El Celler de Can Roca faces?

Our constant daily challenge is to succeed in ensuring that the people who come to El Celler de Can Roca, who often come from far away, making an effort and dedicating their time to us, leave here happy, having lived an interesting gastronomic experience. This is still our daily challenge, as always.
